The Lush Santa Ynez Valley
The Santa Ynez Valley offers rich, fertile soil to its sundrenched vines which thrive in this lumbering coastal valley situated northwest of historic Santa Barbara on California’s scenic Central Coast. Wine making here dates back to the 1700’s when Spanish Missionaries founded a trail of 21 thriving mission communities located along old El Camino Real --the “original road” that was then California’s main passage, now known the world over as Highway 1.
Those who visit the Santa Ynez Valley wine region are greeted with expansive mountain views, lush canyons dotted with old rancheros resting under graceful oaks, verdant rolling hills and a variety of wildlife and native plants. When we first explored this landscape its resonant beauty and burgeoning wine and food culture brought back fond memories of wine tasting excursions through the legendary vineyards of the French countryside. In an instant we knew our future was to settle into this beckoning landscape and blend together our love of California’s rich Spanish influence with the great wine making traditions of France. Robléon is the fruit of our love for each other, world travel, fine food and even finer wine. Our mission will have been accomplished if you enjoy savoring Robléon’s carefully crafted flavors as much as we enjoy producing them.
